About Janet Dougherty

"I enable people to resolve their limiting beliefs, let go of negative thought patterns and programming, find their passion, accept and love themselves, be confident, not stopped by fear but propelled because of it"
Janet Dougherty ~
Mindset Mentor & Corporate Trainer
Janet is living life. Boredom is not a word in her dictionary as she loves adventures and learning. She has won at business, lost heavily in business, lost the love of her life to cancer, had IP stolen, seen and been in situations that most people go through and some that many will thankfully never have to. She has an auto-immune disorder that impacted heavily on her life. For a time, Janet really struggled with pain and required assistance with walking and moving. She now successfully minimises medication requirement and walks without support. She achieves this through defining her preferred outcomes and bringing them into existence through mindset attraction and belief techniques. Janet believes living is made up of experiences all of which are worth having.

Privacy is important to Janet. Janet does not share your information or the fact that you have worked with her. If you want to share your experience with others you are free to do so, that is your choice.  We do ask you to sign an About You and Confidentiality and Privacy Agreement for your protection prior to a session beginning. Note: we attempt to work through your LIMITING BELIEF and what stops you from moving forward in your life in one session. Occasionally a second session may be recommended, but rarely.

Experience and Qualification
Janet trained as a Nurse in New Zealand (NZ) and trained as a Midwife in Australia. She has worked in NZ and Australian hospitals, and for 2 years as a Nurse volunteer in the East Sepik Region of Papua New Guinea. In addition she was fortunate to be able to work as Flight Nurse with the NSW Air Ambulance service.

Given her interest in obtaining a wider expanse of knowledge, she did a Business Degree in South Australia and eventually worked in sales for a diagnostic medical company (not pharmaceutical) in Sydney NSW. Ten months from starting with the company she was asked to return to her home country and open a branch in NZ. She also set up and ran a medical book business for a short time. She learnt quickly that this was not going to be healthy nor financial for her. Medical Books are heavy and not many were sold. A physically taxing and low level income, but the lessons learnt were good ones.

Her next venture took three years of prep work to set up. She conceptualised and developed and ran a medical health business, coordinating healthcare and support services in NZ for people who could not receive the treatment they required in American Samoa. She successfully ran this for near 17 years. Janet started the business, running it on an excel spreadsheet and had to fast learn MYOB. In the first year the business turned over $3 million. In the beginning the handling of such large amounts of money worried her, like kept her awake with palpitations, until one day when she reframed the situation and stated out loud that she was in the business of enhancing and saving lives, not about counting money. Money was the method of purchasing what was required to provide the level of care Janet wanted her clients to have. So she chunked down on the money and declared the amount she was working with for each patient was a one digit number with zeros, so she could get over the fear of handling such large amounts. The systems she had in place to ensure funding was available was a brilliant system that she conceptualised and enabled the buyer to have full disclosure on how it was spent.  The company met all financial commitments and in all the time the business ran, only twice did two different patients not turn up for one of their medical appointment.  This business ceased in 2008 due to the GFC, and add this in with George W Bush, diverting monies from health into funding the development a military base in American Samoa - it was all over rover.

Three other negative events happened for Janet in 2008. One was the collapse of a side line business that Janet went to London to launch.
On the actual morning of the launch day the GFC was announced over TV. This created an immediate loss of $50K for Janet. She left the concept, the product in storage under a railway station in London (not worth bringing back to NZ) which may be an interesting archeological find in 200 years. She did the trade show as planned, and then with her husband went to Venice for a week. In hindsight, this was wonderful as she has the memories of the experience of being away enjoying time with her now deceased husband. On returning home she began the winding down of the medical business.

She also had a co-conceptualised, developed and was selling an invention which first got copied in 2008. This resulted in the loss of a good passive income. It was a great little invention and has since been copied three times that she knows of. The next big event
was when her husband flew up to Fiji to collect, do up and bring back a yacht. This was so Janet could have time away from work which was 24/7 on call. She knew she needed to slow down and be in the fresh air and around water. The plan was she could sail with her husband around Auckland Harbour and still use her phone to co-ordinate services and be on call. Her husband left to do the work necessary and sail solo back to NZ. He was missing at sea for 26 days. It made international news when he was finally found after having been shipwrecked in the channel between Nepean and Norfolk Islands. This is a story that could make a feature film. He was extremely lucky to survive and did so, mainly due to his strength of character, mind capability and level of fitness.

After all these scenarios and within a week of her husband returning to NZ, Janet developed psoriatic arthritis. This was an auto immune response to the stress that had built up in such a short time frame. She was incapacitated and required assistance with walking, turning over in bed and being lifted into her car. The pain was like lying and moving joints through broken shards of glass. Some days she could not drive because her hands were so stiff she could not hold the steering wheel. She eventually went down the path of studying to find the tools for mindset recovery. She has spent in excess of $450K in training that includes obtaining skills to enable her to assist herself and now others in mindset mentoring. She is also a qualified experienced 'Learn-by-Doing' teambuilding, leadership, communication and confidence trainer at teambuilderexpert.com.

Janet chooses the best in their fields to study with, including Clinton Swaine the World Leader in games-based design programs for teaching business skills, presenter presentation and speaker skills; Igor Ledochowski for training in Conversational Hypnosis; Chris Howard for Mastery in Executive and Results Coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)   and Ericksonian Hypnosis. In addition Janet is an accredited REACH Profiling and Communication Practitioner/Educator. She has, and continues to attend and learn through the participation in group and self development training programs. She interweaves and utilises skills from all modalities to assist people to fast move through their stuff that holds them back.

Passion: Janet loves to see the transformation in people when they leave a session or training room, lighter, happier, focused and positive through letting go of the story that they are not enough, can't do, not capable... etc.
Often, this may be achieved in a one off 90 minutes Mindset Mentoring session. This is about letting go of the story we have about ourselves and believe to be true, and like all good stories the ending can be changed.  She works, on diminishing/resolving the effect of self-limiting beliefs, fear, the holding on-to of trauma etc., so as to enable the client to leave happier, focused and positive etc. On occasion a second Mindset Mentoring session may be recommended.
"Fear holds me back
Love moves me forward"
A Sideline Note: The 'Learn-by-Doing' training programs, that Janet designs and delivers, utilise fast learning and mindset mentoring modalities. The 'Learn-by-Doing' training programs programs are designed to be applied immediately and are Practical ~ Memorable ~ Lifechanging in areas of teambuilding, leadership, management, communication and confidence with love and acceptance of self.

Work in Progress: Janet is currently working on designing a new 2 or maybe 3 day program to Rebuild Trust and Unity (RBTU) amongst people following the impact and detriment of working through/with Covid 19. The RBTU program is being designed for participants aged from 16 years through to 100+. It is designed for individuals and teams in business and in the community.
